Simplify.

After my previous post on Minimalist Design, promped by this blog post, I set about making a few changes in my house; room by room.

It’s been slower going than expected, especially when you buy new furniture to do it, so step 1 was to tidy our computer room, specifically my desk.

New Monitors: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11042288@N08/1408728307/in/photostream/

You cant see it in those pictures but I was able to also pick up some Kensington locks to secure the monitors should we ever get broken into in the future.

Much Simpler! I can tell for sure it is a more relaxing feeling working at a workstation that is very nice to use and easy on the eye.

Step 2 in the computer room tidy up is to toss out all my un-used monitors (4 are 21″ CRT! (Charity wont take them, we tried)) , and move on my full-height rack cabinet that is massively under-utalised. The cabinet is sold, and will be replaced by a 1/4 height 19″ rack cabinet which will house my development server and rackmount switch.

Step 3 is to pull up the carpet and have the floorboards polished, for that completely stylish yet minimalist look :)

Step 4, move onto the rest of the house..
